Week 33: πŸ„πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ‘πŸ”₯ (Cambridge)

Another companion, another week, same area. I love this wonderful land of Cambridge and the great people here.

Well it was another moves week which are always interesting! On Tuesday I said goodbye to Elder Welch.. Love that guy so much. He's so awesome and I will truly miss him ;( I picked up my new companion elder Allen and we headed back home!

We had dinner with Kiana and her parents Tuesday night which was awesome. Sadly she headed back to uni so I won't get to see her for a while, but hopefully I'll still be here when she comes back! I'm trying to be here until Christmas!

Wednesday was kinda a poopy day. All of our appointments got canceled and it was pretty rainy and cold. It's starting to get pretty chilly here early so that's no bueno, but better than hot that's for sure.

Thursday made up for it though because I got to see the Geddes again! Two weeks in a row. We actually had our district meeting at their home and then had a delicious carbonara dinner after! Nothing really gets better than that. Plus getting to be with the Bury Elders always makes my day especially Little Elder Poulsen

Friday was pretty typical and Saturday we did some service at a cemetery. We cut a bunch of grass and stuff back in the rain. It was good fun. We also had a BBQ after which was delicious! That night we got to meet the new senior couple since the Westenskows will be heading home today ;( The new couple, the Calls, are awesome though and I look forward to getting to know them in the weeks to come.

Guess who came to church on Sunday?!?! Yasmin! It was great getting to see her. She stayed the whole time and even for the much and mingle afterwards! Sundays are the best on the mission and especially here. I'm at the point now where I know the ward pretty well and they know me and we get along really well. Plus they're a lot of younger members here that I get to socialize with which is awesome. It's such a great ward!

Pedro is doing good. He actually just became an uncle on Saturday which is really exciting and we should be having Family Home Evening with him and the Willis family tonight. We're just trying to help him recognize how he can get his answer that this is true. He's such a great kid!!

It's going to be a fun, but busy week this week. We have zone conference in Hyde Park on Wednesday and then interviews in Colchester on Friday! Lots of busy times ahead but no other way I'd rather have it. I love Cambridge and the amazing people that are here. Almost as much as I love all of you! You guys are the best!

Week 32: Nostalgia (Cambridge)

Been a really good and brought back lots of memories!

I guess I'll start off with all of the big news first. Transfers came out yesterday morning and I'll be staying in Cambridge!!!! Elder Welch is moving out and I'm getting Elder Allen from Syracuse Utah! He's one of the few guys I know pretty well and really like and was one of the few I was hoping to serve with so that's awesome! He's a stud and I look forward to this upcoming transfer! The rest of my district is remaining the same which I'm happy about. Nothing but good days ahead!

The other exciting news was that Saturday was one of the best days of my mission. The Bury Boyz spent the night and we went and played our normal Saturday morning basketball with the Filipinos. There were a total of 8 of us so we played some cheeky 4 v 4. Best workout I've gotten so far. They are so flipping good it's so annoying. The Bury Boys are ballers so having them made it a lot more fun and it was some really good basketball. After that Elder Welch and I had a teach with our boy Pedro. He's doing great and we moved his date back to the 13th of October because he is just starting the 21 day Book of Mormon Challenge. He's a stud. After a great teach we headed out to Raf Lakenheath! Yes I got to go back to the place I was born!!! We had a dinner appointment when some members who work there. I got to eat American food and drink real American lemonade!!!! Afterwards we went to the store and I bought all the American goodies. Even Gatorade!!!! You don't realize how much you miss the little things but it was seriously so great! It was so just so wild to think about how 19 years ago I was in the same exact spot... Man it's so wild! Couldn't really ask for a better day!

We have a girl named Kiana who was baptized about a year ago and we have gone and seen her every week. This week she told us her parents want to have us over for dinner to thank us for being so awesome (my words not theirs). Kiana heads back to uni this next week so it's pretty cool to see this last transfer of visiting pay off. Her parents have never met with missionaries before but they have heard lots of great things about us so that's really cool!

Friday nights we have what we call sports night where a bunch of nonmembers come and play football with us and it's always a good time. This week there was 15 total of us which was the most ever so that was a blast.

In terms of our friends... Pedro is doing good. He's a beast and just a cool kid to be around. He's gonna get dunked it's just a matter of time!
Yasmin is struggling with coffee and we're still trying to find a replacement for her. She's also not wanting to rush anything which is hard because this message is true but she'll come to know that eventually!!! She's so great!

It's going to be a fun week with moves happening and it's only a 5 week transfer but I'm really excited for this transfer it should be a fun one!

I love you all so much and keep enjoying the amazing season of football that's going on.... You're the best!!!

Week 31: Roller-coaster (Cambridge)

What a fast week it was...

We started our week on exchange in colchester with the zone leaders. It was a very interesting one which include going to a funeral. It was weird... As I sat there I thought about if I died right now how many people would be At my funeral. Then I thought about if coach Brennan died right now how many people would be At his funeral. I don't think there's a chapel big enough for that. As I thought more and more about it I just kept thinking about how much impact he's had on my life and how I want to do the same. I left with the impression that at some point, either from the beginning or later on, I'm going to coach high school football. That was the revelation I had this week hope you enjoyed!

The rest of the week consisted of teaching our friends, lots of driving, and finding more friends to teach. We actually taught these two Colombian girls on Thursday which was awesome. They are both 19 and very Colombian so it was awesome. Hopefully we will see them again this week!

Saturday was incredible. Elder Uchtdorf came as well as many other leaders. It was amazing getting to shake the hand of an apostle of the Lord. He's such a great man it was a very spiritual day. On top of that I got to see all my friends in the mission especially elder Epperson. I love that guy and it had been 6 weeks too long since I had seen him. It was amazing! The thing I most enjoyed about Elder Uchtdorfs talk would have to be how he mentioned that God used a different scale to measure our self worth. No matter who we are what we've done we matter to him. Although the world may see us one way he sees us aompletely different way. SO TRUE

The other thing I've really experienced this week is the emotional roller-coaster a mission is. Literally face so much disappointment with investigators every week and it's so devastating and frustrating but with that being said it's helped me to understand the atonement more. To be able to know what Christ we have to experience a little, just a little, of what he experienced. It's also put into perspective how our Heavenly father feels about us. He loves us so much and wants nothing but the best for us and is so sad when we don't do what he wants us to do. I've felt that with the friends we are teaching but I know they will come around. I'm not giving up on them just like the big doesn't give up on us. He loves us and will never turn his back on us and I know that to be true.

The church is true... I can't put it any simpler than that. I invite you to disprove the book of Mormon and let me know when you do I'll be waiting. I love you all so much and thanks for being so amazing!

Week 30: 26 Hour Fast (Cambridge)

Good quick week. It's always nice having less than a week before your next pay!

So what happened this week??? We saw our friend Yasmin on Wednesday and taught her about the Plan of Salvation. She kept saying how it makes so much sense to think about there was something before this life and that it's not just heaven or hell after we die. She's literally so prepared it's insane. She's no nice as well. We also saw her Saturday and talked about the commandments. When we talked about the word of wisdom and not drinking tea and coffee she was like "No you have to be joking!" she's going to try and give it up so pray for her and for that to go well. She's gonna do it!!!!

Another thing I don't think I mentioned about her that she told us. When we went to see her last Tuesday she had basically bought a huge bottle of vodka and was planning of killing herself that night but after our visit with her she no longer wanted to and returned the alcohol to the store! How crazy of a miracle is that? God puts us in people's paths for a reason.

A cool thing about elder wlech is he can speak so many different languages in terms of saying hi to people. While finding this week he spoke a bunch of Chinese to people here and they love it. You know those chiners they love when you speak their language and don't look like them. It's pretty entertaining to watch him do it haha. We also found a couple of people from Chile and Colombia this week which was awesome!

We had a dinner appointment with the Nelson family this week. They're a young couple from Orem Utah and have 2 year old twins... They're so fetching cute. It's s always great eating with an American family.

On Saturday mornings is when we ball with all the Filipinos and I was on fire this week. I drained about 90% of my shots and they loved it. I won every game I played and they were all trying to be on my team towards the end it was awesome ;) they kept saying "You're playing like LeBron!" Grant would be so proud.

Saturday night we started a fast as a mission and it lasted until Sunday night at 9pm. I stopped eating at 7pm Saturday so it was a solid 26 hour fast. Gotta love it! Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven am I right???

Well Dieter comes this week so that's exciting and I'm really looking forward to that! All is well and life is good! I love you all so much !
